An adjunct to the real work, not a substitute.
Therapeutic ultrasound sends sound waves into tissue through a gel-coated applicator. Depending on the settings, the energy either warms tissue deeper than a hot pack can reach or delivers a non-thermal effect to one small target. You feel mild warmth or nothing at all, and it takes only a few minutes.
We will be straightforward about what that buys you. Ultrasound can make a stiff, irritable area more willing to move right before hands-on work and exercise. It does not rebuild tissue, restore strength or change why the problem started. Passive care alone does not hold, and ultrasound is passive care.
A few quiet minutes, then the actual work.
Decide If It Belongs
Your clinician decides whether ultrasound has a job to do in this session. Often it does not, and saying so is more useful to you than filling your appointment with a machine.
The Application
Gel goes on the skin and the applicator moves in slow circles over a small area for several minutes. Most people feel mild warmth. Some feel nothing, which does not mean it is doing nothing.
Straight Into Movement
The value is in what comes immediately after: manual therapy, then loading the area while it is more willing to move. Ultrasound opens the door. It does not walk you through it.
Schedule Your Appointment
Illinois Direct Access means you can see a licensed physical therapist without a doctor's referral. Come in for an evaluation and you will leave with a plan built on hands-on care and movement, with adjuncts used only where they genuinely help.
Your first visit is a full look at how you move, not just where it hurts. We are in network with BCBS, PPO and Medicare, and we can verify your plan before you come in.
You’re all set.
We’ll reach out within one business day to confirm your appointment. If you need to speak with us sooner, call us directly.
