Rehab that ends at your sport, not at pain-free.

Out of pain and ready to compete are two different finish lines, and most rehab stops at the first one. We start from what your sport actually demands, test where you sit against it, and progress you on what you can do rather than on how many weeks have passed.

Dr. Matt Zapotoczny, PT, DPT works with AVP volleyball athletes, Chicago Marathon clinics and CrossFit competitors. Dr. Kyle Blair, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and a former professional bodybuilder and powerlifter. Both have competed themselves, and it shows in how they load you.

For anyone whose sport is the finish line.

Recreational lifter, marathon trainee, league player, aerialist. You do not have to be sponsored to need this. If the goal is a specific activity at a specific intensity, the plan has to be written to that, not to a generic discharge.

Baseline Testing

Sport-specific movement screens and performance tests, scored against what your sport asks of you. You leave knowing the size of the gap in terms you can see, not as a vague sense of progress.

Progressive Loading

Range first, then foundational strength, then power and change of direction, then the real demands of your sport. Each stage opens only once the one before it holds up under load.

Return Criteria

Clearance comes from side-to-side symmetry, power output and movement quality under fatigue. If the tests are not there yet, the plan is not done yet, and we will tell you that plainly.

Back in, and built to stay in.

Testing at the end of a plan exists for the same reason it exists at the start. You get to make the decision to return on real information, instead of stepping back on and hoping the knee holds.

A Clear Return Standard

You know what you have to hit and where you currently sit, at every stage, so progress stops being a feeling.

Confidence Under Load

Hesitation about the injured side fades when the testing keeps confirming what that side can actually handle.

Capacity Past Where Pain Stopped

The Perform stage keeps loading after the symptoms go quiet, because that gap is where re-injury tends to live.

A Prevention Plan You Keep

You finish with the specific work that maintains what you just rebuilt, sized to the training week you really have.

"Hands down the best physical therapy experience I've ever encountered. After suffering a torn ATF ligament from a basketball injury, my road to recovery was slow and arduous with Athletico."

You do not need a referral to start. Illinois Direct Access lets you see a licensed physical therapist for up to 10 visits or 15 business days without one, so your season is not waiting on a doctor's appointment.

Tell us the sport, the injury and the date you are aiming at. We will test where you sit against what that sport asks. We are in-network with BCBS, PPO and Medicare.
