Craniosacral therapy has resonated with me. I would describe it as follows: “Craniosacral therapy’s light touch gently calms the body and mind. I feel better walking out of a craniosacral appointment than when I walk in. I appreciate non-invasiveness of the treatment and no we’d to take pills to find some relief from pain and stress.”

I love the Movement Guild! I have used many of their services – PT, yoga classes, massage, and private movement class. All have been excellent because what the Movement Guild does beautifully is catch those of us who fall through the cracks of your corporate PT spots. I have learned about pain, how to retrain my movements, and how to do new movements to strengthen what is underused or inactive.

I still need to come use the sauna!

Whatever my physical goals are I can count on the experts at TMG.”

I originally went into the Movement Guild for physical therapy with Adam, he came recommended by a friend. He had the best knowledge and worked on my issue with my wrist. It progressively got better but then I fell and injured it again.

Adam did some tests and recommended I get x-rays right away. He suggested a doctor at Midwest Orthopedics. After the recovery from fracturing my wrist, I worked with Adam on strengthening my wrist as well as my back and shoulders to support it. I also took some yoga sessions with Jessica to become more aware of my yoga poses and learn how to not overdo it. Those were fabulous and improved my yoga practice very much.

I also worked with Brian one of the trainers at the Movement Guild, to work on strengthening my hips and building an individualized program during Covid. It’s been over a year and I still follow his recommendations.

I’ve taken classes, used the infrared sauna, had fun training sessions with friends, and massage with Jessica. ALL have been fantastic. I love that whatever my physical goals are I can count on the experts at TMG

“The physical therapy, massages and exercises enable my body to function properly”

I appreciate the fact that I am able to obtain physical therapy, massages and exercise programs at one location with The Movement Guild. The physical therapy, massages and exercises enable my body to function properly so I can train for and participate in triathlons and accomplish my other day to day activities.

I believe The Movement Guild can help anyone, whether they are athletes, weekend worriors or individuals who want to improve their every day life.

Up to this point in time Adam has been very important in keeping me going but that is because I have been seeing him for years. That is not to say the massages I have received during a much shorter time period have not been equally beneficial.

I have no doubt the exercises I receive from Brian will also be quite helpful.

“I came in hobbling and left feeling like a new man”

It would be impossible for me to overstate what an amazing experience I’ve had working with Erin at The Movement Guild! If you stop reading here, just know you won’t find a better PT then Erin!

Erin has an uncanny ability to breakdown and explain complex biomechanics simply to help you understand the root causes of your injuries and how the exercises she’s leading you through are meant to help, giving you the tools to get and stay injury free.

She also does a remarkable job listening, really hearing how your recovery is going and adjusting exercises on a session to session basis to focus on exactly what you need to recover. With Erin in my corner I was finally able to resolve knee and hip issues I’d been struggling with for 2 years, and check off a bucket list item by completing the Chicago Marathon this year.

Thank you so much to her and everyone at The Movement Guild for their help and support! I should also add that Jessica is an amazing masseuse! I scheduled a massage with her for the day after the marathon (and she and Erin are both truly accommodating with their schedules!);

I came in hobbling and left feeling like a new man! I am certain Jessica cut my recovery in half or more with her excellent work!

“The movement guild has a wonderful vibe of friendliness, accessibility and targeted helpfulness.”

It’s helpful for my movement professionals (massage therapist, physical therapist and athletic coach) share a cohesive philosophy and inform each other about my unique needs.

The brain based approach to physical therapy has been huge for helping with my chronic pain. I am hurting significantly less than when I started with MG 6 months ago.

I think the MG best serves active people looking to be pain free in their movements, or people looking for a supportive movement community to heal injuries. I had been to several trainers who I didn’t address my pain, so it has been really nice working with Coach Brian Lyons who is extremely attentive and engaged during sessions.

He continually checks in with me and helps me to understand how I can adjust in the moment and have a well rounded training programing to get stronger without getting beat up too badly.

The movement guild has a wonderful vibe of friendliness, accessibility and targeted helpfulness.

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How has that made a difference for you?

My experience at Movement Guild has been great. I see huge value in a one-stop shop for personal training, yoga, massage therapy and physical therapy. At bigger clubs you don’t receive the personal approach to address your specific needs. Also, MG has great open space to address all four of those functions(personal training, yoga, massage therapy and physical therapy)

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

The biggest impact has been continuing to improve my endurance, core strength and overall flexibility. As you get older those components become much more important.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

I believe MG best serves individuals who have place a big value on working with experienced and talent professionals in the personal training, physical therapy, yoga and massage.

Adam, Brian and Jessica all have 20 + years of experience in their fields with master degrees and several certifications. At bigger gyms/clubs you generally get more inexperienced professionals because they(bigger clubs like Midtown, etc) built their business for the masses and want scale.

The outcome of that approach tends to create turnover amongst their team and ends up not addressing the wellness goals of their clients. Additionally, having experienced trainers like Brian who are self-aware of your mobility and work around any constraints(back and hip issues).

I continue to hear stories from friends and family getting hurt and injured at various boot camps and clubs because the lack of experience and training on their team.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Brian and Jessica have both been great at improving my overall core strength, mobility, endurance and flexibility. It’s also very convenient to have personal training and massage therapy on the same floor

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How has that made a difference for you?”

There is a special element to having a one stop shop for your body’s well being. Moving from dry needling, to physical therapy, to deep tissue massage to an infrared sauna all in the same place is not only incredibly convenient, but the confidence it gives you that your are being best taken care of in all elements by very educated, experienced professionals.

“What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?”

I was referred to the Movement Guild by dear friends. One who has bulging spinal discs and the other a prior professional soccer player, who’s body clearly took a beating over the years. They are both also in the medical field and ‘know their stuff.’

Having experienced chronic tension headaches and neck pain, I felt safe and hopeful that the team at the Movement Guild would help me. And, they have!!

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

The Movement Guild is for anyone experiencing tension, pain, injury, etc. It is also there for you if you experience none of the above and are looking for the best massage you have ever had in your life.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Erin Schreiber is brilliant and magical. In a very short period of time she remedied the chronic tension headaches I had experienced for WAY too long in a few very short weeks. We are now working on other areas of my body so I can feel and perform to my best ability. She is also incredibly thoughtful, kind and lovely to be around. Her genuine care for her work and patients is paramount.

Jesscia Carlin is not only the strongest therapist (she is small but MIGHTY!!) but she can truly read your body for what it needs and uncovers / releases tension you did not even know was existent. She is wizardly in the way she works around your body and I am so grateful for her strength and expertise.

In my opinion the perfect trifecta is dry needling and PT session with Erin, a 90 minute massage with Jessica, followed by 30 minutes in the sauna. Dream.

“The Movement Guild has helped me minimize body pain and prevent achiness from becoming chronic.”

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

Working with the great team at the Movement Guild has helped me minimize body pain and prevent achiness from becoming chronic.

I’ve become more in touch with my body because the trainers provide thorough yet accessible education around how various movements are in fact related. It’s been really eye-opening to learn how we’re affected by unconscious movements and empowering to take more control back.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

I’d recommend the Movement Guild’s services to anyone interested in taking better care of their body. This team offers it all, from physical therapy for those managing serious injuries to relaxing spa services like massage.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Erin Schreiber is a fantastic physical therapist and I highly recommend her to anyone recovering from physical injury or fighting body pain. Her thorough understanding of the body and holistic approach have been so helpful in my recovery.

She’s very patient in explaining how everything is connected and recommending the right exercises to help heal.

“The most human-centered business I’ve ever engaged with for physical and massage therapy.”

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How has that made a difference for you?

Taking advantage of a few sessions of massage therapy allowed me to focus on acute pain areas in physical therapy while attending to the larger stress it’s put my body under. It has been a helpful part of dealing with the general stress of acute and chronic pain as well as the stress of living through a global pandemic and a high stress job.

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

The combination of expertise and genuine care and compassion towards each client. This is the most human-centered business I’ve ever engaged with for physical and massage therapy.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

The range of services Movement Guild provides makes anyone a good client/user. I would also recommend Movement Guild for people dealing with acute pain and chronic pain.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Erin Schreiber has been a literal life-changer. I have been in and out of physical therapy for eight years, and have never received such skilled and empathic care. Erin is the best possible combination of expertise and compassion, going above and beyond the basic care during appointments.

She helped connect me to a better orthopedist, answered questions quickly and thoughtfully, and is clearly invested in the well-being and growth of every patient. She is also a warm and engaging person, which has made what could have been a painful and challenging experience something I’ve looked forward to.

I have already recommended Erin to several people, including my partner, and will continue to do so as long as I know people in Chicago who need help!

“The Movement Guild has helped me minimize body pain and prevent achiness from becoming chronic.”

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How as that made a difference for you?

Having multiple services at one location including massage and yoga is ideal and helps compliments my Physical Therapy. A team approach working with Erin, Jessica, and Adam provides expertise from different perspectives while working toward my recovery objectives.

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

The biggest impact so far has been getting a better understanding of my pain, how to manage it, and know that I’ll be able to fully recover. Erin is a unique and phenomenal Physical Therapist, she truly sees the big picture with my body and how to help me recover.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

Anyone who has been dealing with chronic pain and physical limitations, and wants to learn how to move their body more efficiently.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

I’ve been working with Erin for 8 weeks, and I’ve noticed a big difference in a reduction of my physical pain and emotional well being. I learn so much about my body, recovery, and movement each time i come to PT.

Are there any services you would like us to add to our menu?

None.

Or are there any recommendations you have for us for ways we can improve?

Dr. Alland at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush recommended me to Erin. I also see Dr. Shane Nho and Dr. Madhu Singh and recommend you connect with them and their teams so other patients can benefit from the Movement Guild’s PT services.

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How as that made a difference for you?

I think the biggest benefit of working both with the PT side of TMG and the massage therapy side has been that both therapists are so informed on what my issues are, and are able to easily and swiftly recommend tweaks and changes I can make to improve conditions I’m working on. It’s made my treatment plans feel more consistent and approachable as a lay person with minimal understanding of the deep intricacies and connections in my body.

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

How kind, supportive, knowledgeable, and understanding all of the therapists have been. Everyone I’ve worked with has taken the time to truly try to understand the issue and how we can work together to fix it.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

Anyone who is in pain and knows they can feel better!

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Jessica and Erin for sure, both have been really helpful, supportive, and thorough in trying to fix my issues!

Are there any services you would like us to add to our menu? Or are there any recommendations you have for us for ways we can improve?

I think adding chiropractic care could be a value add to clients. As far as improvements, more on time billing for PT would be great. I think I just received a bill for treatment I had in January…in July – hah!

The most impactful aspect is knowing that I am not getting a quick fix but rather understanding the cause and building a stronger foundation to help prevent pain/injury in the future.

Share your experience using multiple services under one roof as a comprehensive approach. How has that made a difference for you?

Currently, I use the physical therapy/chiropractic services, personal training, massage therapy and recovery tools. All of those are services I need to maintain being an athlete and I am so grateful I can find one place to do it all. The comprehensive approach of all the practitioners talking to each other makes me feel comfortable knowing they are all up to speed on my goals and treatment plans.

What has been the most impactful aspect of experience with the Movement Guild?

The most impactful aspect is knowing that I am not getting a quick fix but rather understanding the cause and building a stronger foundation to help prevent pain/injury in the future. In addition, I know Adam is continuing to expand his knowledge and bring that forward in his practice.

Who do you think the Movement Guild best serves?

Truly anyone. If you’re an athlete looking to recover better, move more efficiently, prevent injury or fix nagging injuries to post surgery rehab to the average sedentary desk worker, this facility serves anyone.

Is there anyone at the Movement Guild that has been particularly important to your pain/performance journey?

Adam has been especially important to me in the way that he approaches pain, performance and injury prevention. Adam’s holistic approach to understanding the “why” vs. “quick fix” is the exact practitioner I need on my team.

Are there any services you would like us to add to our menu? Or are there any recommendations you have for us for ways we can improve?

I don’t have any recommendations for how you can improve as I absolutely love taking advantage of the services that are available. I think really creating a recovery room could be great for athletes such as unlimited use of the sauna, adding a cold bath, cryotherapy? Not sure the details but this is something I would use multiple times per week.
